The 400G OSFP stands for 400G “Octal Small Form-factor Pluggable”. It is described as an “Octal” module because the electrical interface of an OSFP connector consists of 8 electrical lanes, each running at 50Gb/s for a total bandwidth of 400Gb/s. It is slightly wider and deeper than the QSFP-DD, but it still supports 32 OSFP ports per 1U front panel, and enables 12.8 Tbps per 1U switch slot. OSFP is designed to support the next generation of 800G optics modules that will use eight lanes of 100Gbps, and offer backward compatibility with 100G QSFP. AscentOptics provides a comprehensive 400G OSFP optical transceiver portfolio, such as OSFP SR8, OSFP DR4, OSFP DR4+, OSFP FR4, OSFP 2*FR4, and OSFP LR4, including of 4x50Gx2 and 4X100G architectures. This series of products comply with IEEE 802.3bs and OSFP MSA standards and mainly applied in 400G Ethernet, data centers and cloud networks.
